In 2010 David Palmer founded the Joan Rose Foundation(JRF) to provide impoverished children with the opportunity to succeed. It quickly became apparent that to actually help the children one needed to stabilize their household and the mostly single mothers of the children at the JRF had no decent job prospects. Good Threads was founded in 2013 as a solution to this issue, we now employ every mother at the Joan Rose Foundation as well as over 100 other local women.
Our employees are paid by the piece, so the harder they work the more they make and those that work the hardest make as much as nurses and teachers despite their lack of formal education.
We give them the materials so that they can work from home while they take care of their household, we help them open bank accounts, help with their children’s education through the Joan Rose Foundation and have even set aside 10% of the companies shares for them so that as we grow and prosper so will they.
